Key Features

The guidelines are structured to allow users to easily find the relevant actions or processes to be taken in each step and to locate the level of detailed guidance appropriate to an individual user's particular requirements. The guidelines are therefore structured to facilitate a 'drill-down' approach, with three levels of detail as follows:

A 'high-level route map' showing the 8 key steps in the procurement and outsourcing lifecycle and the underlying key processes for each of these steps.
An overview for each of the 8 steps, including the objectives, key risks, and features of each step. This also contains a more detailed route map, which identifies where key documents are prepared in the project lifecycle.
Detailed guidelines for the main processes to be conducted in each step, including:

- Key objectives;
- A route map for the main processes in the step
- Main outputs;
- Significant risks;
- A description of key activities;
- Specific contractual legal issues;
- Risks or pitfalls to be aware of; and
- A description of documents used in the process.

In addition, regulatory matters are included in appendix I and some contract formation issues are included in appendix II.
